Margaret Mbaka
JCG Chairperson
Margaret initially joined JCG in 2000 to provide HR and strategic management consulting services. She has since held the following positions in Dalbit before joining the executive board as its Chair: Group HR and Corporate Affairs Manager, Group Corporate Affairs Director, Group Executive Director – Operations, Group Managing Director and currently, Group Chair since 2019.
Margaret has over 30 years’ experience in corporate governance, marketing, human resources, and general management, offering strategic management solutions to the Board and Management teams of the Group to not only maximize return on investment to shareholders, but to also achieve excellence in corporate governance.
She began her working career with the East African Breweries Ltd (EABL). At EABL she started in the PR and Marketing department before making a career shift to the HR department. After several years working through the HR ranks in EABL, she joined International Computers Ltd (ICL) as Head of HR, Quality and Communications. She steered the company to achieve ISO certification in 1993, the second Company in Kenya to achieve this accreditation.
She is passionate about wildlife conservation and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy, whose flagship project is the rehabilitation of the endangered Mountain Bongo antelope.
Margaret holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Delhi University in 1980 and has over the years attained several other professional certifications in the fields of Marketing, HR, Communications and General Management.
